Hi everyone, I plan to make a handful of revisions for my final proposal. Instead of specifying content analysis I will focus on document analysis with some example from self-usability testing. I will revise the introduction to give examples and circle it back to the research I plan on conducting. My literature review also had a view instances of no page numbers that I will go back and add. I want to itterate that I will be focusing on 5 guides, 3 for one game and 2 for the other. This will allow me to discuss the document analysis in a more in depth approach. This is a minor revision because I was initially going to do 3 guides from 2 games, but ended up only finding 2 for one of them. Overall, these are the revisions I plan on doing in my final draft of the proposal.
My resarch topic/question is what can make a video game guide more enhanced and effective. There is not a lot of information on this topic directly but there is some that can be easily related. Many of the articles I have already reseatched contain information about how a video game tutorial can be made and how they can be applied to most games. These concepts can relate to my topic on how to enhance guides because they sort of share the same principles. The knowledge gap specifically is there are no articles about what can make a video game more usable and better for users. My goal in my proposal is to identigy this research and explain why it is important.
Hey Everyone, I enjoyed learning about the different styles we can use to conduct various sets of research. The research technique that was most applicable to my research was document analysis and usability study. Although I didn't conduct a usability study, the information within the textbook and lectures gave me a better idea on how the 5 usability components influence a study. The other processes such as surveys and coding were also effective research methods and will be great information to keep in mind if I conduct another research report. These processes have taught me how to utilize them effectively while still being ethical. Although our research isn't heavy on using other people whether it is a survey or interview of sorts, it's good to keep in mind the ethical boundaries and make sure we do not step outside of them. Overall, every lecture has taught me necessary information on how to utilize different methods when conducting a research paper.
